Length of Time CrossFitting: About 5 months
Favorite Lift/Movement and Why? I like most of the lifts, but my favorite lift would have to be the power snatch. The reason I like it is that I really feel my entire body in involved in getting the bar over my head. Each bit of advice that the coaches give to me on the lift makes a big difference. I have a lot of improvement on the technique of the lift, but that’s why I go and that’s what makes it fun.
Favorite Workout/Type of Workout and Why? I haven’t been doing this too long so it’s difficult to say which type would be my favorite. But if I had to pick one then I would say I like doing the hero wods. Those wods are intense and I really have to push myself to get through them.
Goals for the Next Year? Working on my endurance is on the top of my list as far as fitness goes. I want to keep improving my technique on the lifts. Some bench marks I’d like to hit are getting double unders and muscle ups. I am probably missing about 10 other things.
How has CrossFit Impacted your Life? Crossfit has impacted my life in a number of ways. Up until about the past 2 years I have always been in pretty good shape. I used to run a lot of races and would go to the gym 3-4 times a week. But I wouldn’t say that I really pushed myself. It turned into a routine and then it got very boring. I was invited to a free Saturday at CFB by Michelle and I instantly knew this is what I needed/wanted. I convinced my girlfriend at the time (now wife) to come and try it out. Since joining I have noticed a lot of differences, the first being the amount of energy I have throughout the day. I am no longer dragging myself out of bed each morning, I get right up and go. It has also helped with just having a positive attitude. I haven’t worked out at any other crossfit gyms, but I think that CFB has something special. Everyone at the gym is very helpful and supportive. The coaches are fantastic and really care about helping you obtain your goals and beyond. I could go to any box and do the workouts, it’s the people at CFB that keep me coming back and help to motivate. Lastly, crossfit is impacting my wallet…none of my clothes fit anymore!!!
